Nuclear is highlighted in China’s Catalog for Industries

National Development and Reform Commission of China (NDRC) recently issued an announcement on the “Catalog for Industries to encourage Foreign Investment (draft)”. It consists of two parts: one is the nationwide applicable catalog for encouraging foreign investment; the other is the catalog of competitive industries good for foreign investment in central and western regions. Among them, Yunnan, Ningxia, Hainan and Xinjiang province encourage the development of solar energy manufacturing.

In this catalog, it mainly focus on the manufacturing of complete equipment for new energy electricity generation or key equipment (photovoltaic power generation, solar thermal power generation, geothermal power generation, tidal power generation, wave power generation, garbage power generation, biogas power generation, 2.5 MW and above wind power generation equipment). ), as well as the construction and operation of new energy power stations (including solar energy, wind energy, geothermal energy, tidal energy, tidal energy, wave energy, biomass energy, etc.). Other non-traditional energy and nuclear power plants and hydro-power stations also have related catalog.

Furthermore, in this catalog, it canceled the requirement and regulation that Chinese local company shall hold shares in the construction and operation of nuclear power plants and the construction and operation of power grids. It can be seen that in the fields of hydro-power, nuclear power and new energy, China’s openness to foreign businessmen is increasing.

NβN tip: The list of industries that encourage foreign investment includes many categories of new energy industries. In the new energy sector, international investors are biased towards new energy projects with long-term and stable cash flow.
