Rosatom’s web in India

On 20th October 2016 the Russian firm opened its regional center in Mumbai to supervise its ongoing projects and expand Rosatom’s web in India and Bangladesh. The opening ceremony of the center took place during the international conference India Nuclear Energy 2016*.

Alexei Pimenov, regional president of Rosatom South Asia declared that Rosatom wanted to combine its efforts and to increase the efficiency of the operations of the Russian nuclear industry in South Asia.

Currently Rosatom is helping India to build Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant (KNPP) unit 3&4 soon will ink the deal for the construction of KNPP unit 5&6. Bangladesh already signed an agreement with Russia in December 2015 and according to the agreement Russia’s state owned nuclear energy Corporation Rosatom will construct Bangladesh’s first nuclear power plant at Rooppur.

Currently Rosatom is constructing nuclear power plants in nine countries and opened a regional center in each country.

*India Nuclear Energy is an annual expo held at Nehru Centre Worli, Mumbai in October 2016. The event is organized by the Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) and supported by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL).
