Russia and Argentina strategic partnership

Russia and Argentina signed a strategic document on cooperation in the peaceful use of nuclear energy on the sidelines of the G-20 summit. The official ceremony was attended by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Argentine President Mauricio Macri.

Alexei Likhachev, chief executive of Rosatom Nuclear Power, representing Russia, and Argentinean Energy Minister Javier Iguacil signed the agreement.

One of the key areas of Russia and Argentina strategic partnership referred to large and small capacity nuclear power plant projects in Argentina.

The agreement includes work on joint projects in third world countries, including the construction of research centers and staff development. Finally, the Russia and Argentina strategic partnership provides an opportunity for joint cooperation in a wide range of areas, including joint projects in floating nuclear reactor, taking into account the completion of the construction of the first floating nuclear plant in the world, “Academic Lomonosov.”
