Russia and Paraguay nuclear connexion

Russia plans to build a nuclear research center in Paraguay. Both authorities met in Asunción. According to the statement from the Paraguayan Foreign Ministry, the audience was headed by the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Paraguay, Ambassador Federico González, who received the Vice President of ROSATOM Latin America, Sergey Kergey Krivolapov, together with the New Development Manager Olga Pustarnakova, and the Representative of ROSATOM in Argentina Evgenii Safonov. Also present were authorities from the Nuclear Regulatory Authority and the Russian Embassy in Paraguay.

The Paraguayan Congress must approve the use of nuclear technology mainly for medicine, where the contribution for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases -i.e.oncological – will be substantial.
