Russia supports El-Dabaa NPP with the highest international safety standards

The Russian Federal Environmental, Industrial and Nuclear Supervision Service “Rostechnadzor” announced that it will provide Egypt with support and assistance to ensure the highest safety standards during construction, operation and use of the El-Dabaa nuclear power plant.

The “VO Safety” Corporation of the Russian Rostechnadzor also indicated that, according to the contract concluded with the Egyptian Nuclear & Radiological Regulatory Authority (ENRRA), Russian experts will support the Egyptian partners in the process of issuing construction permits for El-Dabaa NPP, as well as arrange and conduct the necessary inspections, in addition to working on training Egyptian Authority staff, to create an integrated safety system for the plant.

Russia continues the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Egypt, consisting of four VVER-1200 reactors with a capacity of 1200 MW each, of the 3+ generation that meets the highest safety standards. The first reactor is scheduled to be operational by 2026.
