SMR pilot project is scheduled for December 2019

Hainan Changjiang multi-purpose modular small reactor demonstration project plans to build an ACP100 nuclear power unit and its supporting auxiliary facilities, with a planned capacity of 125MW and a reactor thermal power of 385MWt. The project is scheduled to start pouring concrete in the first time on December 31, 2019. The construction period is 65 months, and the project will be completed and put into operation on May 31, 2025.

Hainan Changjiang multi-purpose modular small reactor demonstration project uses a 100,000-kilowatt pressurized water reactor (ACP100) with independent intellectual property rights to meet the requirements of the third-generation nuclear energy system.

The cost of direct and indirect environmental protection accounts for approximately about 2.26% in the total planned capital of the project. According to the total investment fund demand for the fixed price of the project, the funds are proposed to be raised through the following channels: According to the initial intention of the construction unit, the project funder (each shareholder party) is tentatively set up according to the proportion of shares determined in the capital contribution agreement; The balance after the capital is intended to be settled by domestic policy banks and/or commercial bank loans.

NβN tip: The construction of demonstration projects is a necessary means and measures for the promotion and application and industrialization development of small modular reactors. Through the mass production of SMR and commercial design and transformation, the cost can be effectively reduced and a good economy can be obtained.
