Spanish-Moroccan cooperation in the fields of nuclear energy

The Moroccan Agency for Security and Safety signed a memorandum of understanding with the Spanish Nuclear Safety Council in the nuclear and radiological fields.

The Moroccan agency stated that under this agreement, the two sides will share and exchange information on issues related to the peaceful use of nuclear energy, including sharing of lessons learned from nuclear accidents, cooperation to strengthen nuclear and radiological security and communication in the case of nuclear and radiological crises.

Also mentioned in the statement, this agreement is part of the support program adopted by the Moroccan Agency for Security and Safety in the nuclear and radiological fields. Includes several areas like vigilance and cooperation, as well as the management of nuclear and radiological emergencies, the risk of serious accidents and reducing the serious consequences of accidents besides R&D.

The Moroccan Agency for Nuclear and Radiological Security and Safety has also developed a program of exchange and cooperation, which is particularly concerned with the formation and strengthening of expertise and the exchange of experiences by the signing of memoranda of understanding at the level of countries and companies as well.

The signing ceremony was attended by Spanish Ambassador to Rabat “Ricardo Dees Huclietter Rodriguez” and President of the Spanish Council for Nuclear Safety “Fernando Marty Scharfhausen”
