Turkey’s natural gas demand

Russia’s natural gas exportation to Turkey has increased by 2.63 billion cubic meters since the beginning of 2017 compared to the same period of 2016.

Aleksey Miller, the President of Gazprom said that the demand in the Turkish market for Russian natural gas increased and that the natural gas exported by Russia at that moment constituted 53% of Turkey’s domestic natural gas market.

Referring to other potential markets in the South and Southeast European countries, he noticed : “The volume of natural gas we have exported to Europe from the beginning of 2017 until mid-June increased by 10.5 billion cubic meters compared to the same period of the previous year.”

Russian natural gas demand in Turkey increased by 26%, by 12% in Greece, by 14% in Bulgaria, by 31% in Hungary, by 47% in Serbia and by 77.5% in Austria.

Azerbaijan, Algeria, Nigeria and Iran are the other countries that Turkey imports natural gas.
