Katherine Angela Oendoen, member of the House of Representatives Commission VII encouraged the construction of a nuclear power plant in West Kalimantan.
“We know there is uranium reserve in this region, it must be used for a nuclear power plant in West Kalimantan”. “With electricity, West Kalimantan will not lose competitiveness to other regions. The nuclear power plant will have an impact on the growth of the industrial sector, creating jobs and increasing the economy of the community,” she added.
She indicated that Nuclear will improve human resources in West Kalimantan, one of which is by submitting scholarships for students as many as 900 people to the Directorate of Higher Education. “That is one way to improve the quality of West Kalimantan’s human resources so that they are not left behind by other regions”.
Previously, the West Kalimantan System Load and Distribution Unit Manager (UP3B) Ricky Faizal said that currently the total power capacity of PLN West Kalimantan had reached 611,234 Mega Watts (MW).
