A partnership between the UAE’s Masdar and Japan’s Sumitomo to convert waste into energy

The Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company “Masdar”, one of the world’s leading renewable energy companies, has announced the signing of an agreement with Sumitomo and Bee’ah.

The agreement between Masdar, Sumitomo, and Bee’ah aims to develop waste-to-energy projects in the GCC region. The three companies are exploring cooperation in a range of projects, including a facility to treat 390,000 tons of waste annually and generate 25 megawatts of energy.

And in the presence of the UAE Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Masdar, Dr. Sultan Al Jaber and Sumitomo CEO Masayuki Hyodo, Masdar CEO Mohamed Al Ramahi, and Koichi Taniguchi, Corporate Director General of Sumitomo’s Global Energy Infrastructure Business, signed the agreement in Japan.
