Abdulfattah Al Sisi meets Alexey Likhachev

The Egyptian President, Abdulfattah Al Sisi, met the Chief Executive Officer of Rosatom, Alexey Likhachev, in Cairo. Mr. Mohammed Shakir, the Egyptian Minister of Electricity and Renewable Energy, and other officials from the ministry and the Russian Corporation also attended the meeting.

The meeting was held to revise the latest updates in the final agreements between Egypt and Russia for the Dabaa Nuclear Power Plant project.

The Egyptian President stated that the project is important for Egypt. He also said that it is a symbol of friendship and cooperation between the two countries. On the other side, Likhachev praised the Egyptian efforts to finalize the agreement and to start the project. He stated that Rosatom gives special attention to this project.

The project’s total cost is 29 Billion USD. 85% of the cost will be funded by Russia as a loan and 15% of the cost will be funded by Egypt, which means 25 Billion USD from Russia and 4 Billion USD from Egypt.
