CGN recent overseas achievements

In 2016, China General Nuclear (CGN) signed a package of cooperative agreements with the operator Electricity of France (EDF) and the British Government to build the new nuclear project in the United Kingdom (UK).

In January of 2017, the British nuclear authorities started the Generic Design Assessment (GDA) of the Hualong No.1.

Mr. He Yu, president of CGN declared recently: “The official approval to begin the GDA will lead to the export of the Hualong No.1 in the UK, which is the significant achievement of China’s one belt, one road strategy”, (…) “CGN global expansion includes electricity projects in Romania, Malaysia, Bangladesh, Egypt and several other countries”.

For example, in March of 2016, the ceremony of the Malaysian Edra project was held in Kuala Lumpur, one of the thirteen clean energy projects in five countries along the line of the “One Belt, One Road”.

The installed capacities of the units in operation owned by the CGN have exceeded 600 MW. He Yu stated that the CGN probably build two more units in the Malacca Strait this year.

The nuclear fuel is another important part in the CGN industrial layout. In April of 2016, CGN achieved a breakthrough in the Namibian Uranium project with a production output of 100 Million tons. The nuclear fuel development is included in China’s main strategy and its “One Belt, One Road” initiative.
