The first Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Cancer Treatment in Bolivia

The director of the Bolivian Nuclear Energy Agency (ABEN), Hortensia Jimenez declared that the first Institute of Nuclear Medicine and Cancer Treatment will be delivered in the last quarter of 2019.

“This allows us to say with certainty that this year we will finish this work and we will be able to initiate the care of patients, both for diagnosis and cancer treatment. This building will be this year, we hope that for the last quarter it can already be done”.

The Institute of Nuclear Medicine is being built in District 8 of El Alto, next to the Center for Research and Development of Nuclear Technology, both projects demand an investment of at least 400 million dollars.

The Director of the ABEN said that the construction of the Institute of Nuclear Medicine entered the phase of fine work and the construction of the bunker, where there will be the linear accelerators that will allow the treatment of cancer. The import of the equipment for the center, whose construction is 30% complete, also began, he said.

Deputy Franklin Flores, who was part of the inspection, highlighted the progress of the project and said that social control, together with the neighbors, will closely follow the construction of the work to be delivered later this year.
